Gazi University Faculty of Fine Arts; with the contributions of Gazi University Faculty of Education Department of Education of Fine Arts (Painting-Music), United Nations High Commissariat for Refugees (UNHCR), TRT Directorate General Agency of Music and GESAM; is organizing an activity “The Signs of Wars on Arts in The Turkish State", including a panel, an exhibition and a concert, on April 27th, 2009.

By a lexical statement, war can be defined as "armed conflict that states engage in, by cutting adrift the diplomatic relationships". Accordingly, by the term 'war', annihilation, death, injury, deformation, cruelty, torment, aggression, banishment, sanctuary and naturaliy human rights are reminded.

This activity themed "The Signs of Wars on Arts in The Turkish State" is
aiming to draw attention on the contumacy of The Turks whose homelands are distracted, forced to leave their homelands, deportated, being genocided, died a martyr, wonded; and their rebel on behalf of human rights and revolt against affliction.

This activity is being organized for splitting the feelings of the artists who had experienced the pain of war or understand the feelings of his cognates to a wide crew, and proper for the accretion of all artists and intellectuals.

PANEL

Place: Gazi University, Mimar Kemaleddin Hall
The panel is aimed to be organized by the contribution of the participants from Iraq, Meskhetia, East Turkestan, Karabagin, the Balkans and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The participants will assess their experiences about the theme and evaluate the effects and reflections of these experiences on their art. The candidate participants should fiil up the attached FORM-1 and send to senayinanan@yahoo.com at the latest 1st of February, 2009. The panelists will be determined by the Panel Selector Council.

EXHIBITION
Date : Monday, April 27, 2009

Place: Gazi University, Resim-Heykel (Art) Museum
The exhibition will consist of the works of artists in the Turkish State who had experienced or felt the war, violence and grievance. The candidate participants, appropriate by the exhibition specifications, should fill up the attached FORM 2 and send to mehtappazarlioqlu@yahoo.com with the photographs of their artworks, at the latest 20th of January, 2009. The exhibited artworks will be determined by the Exhibition Selector Council

CONCERT
Date: Monday, April 27, 2009
Time: 20:00
Place: Gazi Concert Hall
The aim of the concert is to submit samples of the synergy of the pains under the shadow of the wars, with lyrics and music. The candidate participants of this activity organized by TRT Music Agency, should fill up the attached FORM-1 and send to mehtappazarlioglu@yahoo.com with the lyrics, notes and stories of the original public folksongs they want to suggest, at the latest 20th of January, 2009. The vocalized folksongs will be determined by the Concert Selector Council.

Participation
•The exhibition is proper for artworks in painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, installation, video (DVD) and documentary.
•The participants can apply both to the exhibition and the panel.
•The length of the paintings in the exhibition should not be more than 200 cm and the works should be delivered as ready to be exhibited.
•The locality and display features of the 30 works like installation, sculpture or ceramics, should be considered by the artist. The restrictive judgement about this item is the Selective Council's right.
•Every kind of material usage in the works is free.
Delivery of the Works
•The high resolution photographs or images of the works (min. 300 dpi) written on a CD, technical details and resumes should be sent to mehtappazarlioqlu@yahoo.com, at the latest 20th of February, 2009.
•The letters of acceptance vvill be sent to the artists in 15 days by e-mail.
•The accepted vvorks vvlll be documented by a catalog.
•The accepted vvorks vvill be delivered by hand or by cargo at the latest 17th of April, 2009. The artists are responsible for possible damages about cargo delivery. The dravvback of the works will be organized under the control of the Exhibition Organization Council by cargo or by hand. The responsibility and charge of the dravvback belongs to the artist.
•The attached FORM-2 should be completed and attached to the back side of the work.
